Superintendent Kevin Shipley

I would like to welcome you to Evadale ISD!   As I arrived here in August, I cannot take credit for the wonderful things happening in our district, but I can thank the community for their warm welcome and we can celebrate our successes.  I think that we are one of the premier educational institutions in the area if not the state.  Our staff of dedicated professionals does an outstanding job of creating a mix between academic rigor, providing opportunities for student success, and providing a safe and family like environment for our students.  Our parents are actively involved in their children’s lives and are very supportive of their educational goals.

Over the past few years, we have increased our campus rating to an “A” for the ‘21-‘22 School Accountability and we improved our performance in Reading and Math for the ‘22-‘23 accountability ratings.  While we are waiting on the state to provide the final scores, let’s just say that we have been making great progress!  In addition to our academic success our Athletic and UIL teams are very competitive and there are many activities that occur at our school.  In fact, if you have not seen our homecoming parade, you are truly missing a treat!

As I am new to the district, I thought I might provide you a little information of my history in education.   Angela and I have been married for 37 years.  Our son Robert is an engineer with Scout Motor company, and he and his family (Megan and daughter Sarah) live in Detroit Michigan.  I have been in education for 34 years, 9 years as a Business teacher and Basketball Coach, 18 years as a campus level administrator in Texas and for 7 years as a Superintendent.  Our time in education has included stops in Texas, Oklahoma and Alaska.   We enjoy watching our students and communities grow and develop and we enjoy celebrating the achievements of those we work with.

As I have said previously, Evadale is a warm and accepting community that places the success of it’s students first.  This year the board is exploring a bond proposal that would significantly improve each campus.  So if you are interested in a first-class public-school education, we would like to encourage you to come and take a look at our district for your children.  If you just would like more information on what is going on in the district, or what the bond proposal will look like, I would encourage you to watch for the pages we will be adding to our website concerning these and other issues.

GO REBELS!!!
