Softball Coach / Special Education Teacher (2025-2026 Anticipated)

Job Description


This dual-role position combines teaching and coaching responsibilities. The Special Education Inclusion Teacher will provide specially designed instruction and support to students with disabilities in the general education setting. The coach will lead the softball program as Head Coach and support the football program as an Assistant Coach. The individual will foster academic, athletic, and personal growth among students, promoting teamwork, integrity, and success both in the classroom and on the field.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement

  • Demonstrated knowledge of special education laws, practices, and instructional strategies

  • Experience in adapting and modifying general education curriculum to meet individual needs

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Valid Texas CDL with required endorsements or willingness to obtain (for transporting students/teams)

  • Coaching experience in softball and football preferred


Teaching Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with general education teachers to provide accommodations, modifications, and instructional support to students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and monitor student progress

  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners

  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement, behavior, and communication

  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff to support student success

  • Participate in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings and ensure compliance with special education requirements

  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students


Coaching Responsibilities


  • Lead and manage all aspects of the softball program, including practices, game strategies, team development, and communication with parents

  • Supervise athletes during practices, games, and travel

  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and a strong work ethic among student-athletes

  • Maintain equipment, manage uniforms, and ensure safety standards are met

  • Support academic achievement by encouraging athletes to meet classroom expectations


Additional Expectations


  • Attend staff meetings, professional development, and other required events

  • Uphold district policies and school procedures

  • Maintain professional conduct and serve as a positive role model for students


Note:

Final coaching assignments may adjust based on campus and program needs.
